Bold claim: iOS 26.4 beta dives into AI-powered playlist making, and it could change how you discover music. But here’s the part most people miss: Apple’s new feature, Playlist Playground, lets you generate playlists from simple text prompts, with built-in idea prompts to kickstart your listening sessions.
Apple Intelligence in Apple Music
Currently tagged as a beta, Playlist Playground appears in the Apple Music app as a new playlist icon in the upper-right corner of the Library screen. Tap that icon, enter a text description, and Apple Music will produce a playlist tailored to your request. In addition to prompts you can customize yourself, there are ready-made New Playlist Ideas to spark inspiration.
Once a playlist is created, you can add it to your Apple Music library, and you retain full control to manually add, remove, or reorder songs just like any other playlist.
If you don’t see the feature after updating to iOS 26.4, it likely means the new Apple Intelligence models are still downloading. You can verify this by opening the Settings app and navigating to Apple Intelligence & Siri.
Status and availability
iOS 26.4 is currently in developer beta testing, with a public beta expected in the next several weeks.
